Fronted by singer/songwriters Nick Lowe & Ian Gomm, Brinsley Schwarz were pioneers of the 1970s so called 'Pub Rock' movement.
In the early 1970s, they toured England innumerable times, playing pubs and clubs across the country. Along the way, they influenced a legion of other artists, creating an underground, back-to-basics movement that laid the foundation for punk rock.
When the band split, Nick Lowe went on have a solo hit with the old Brinsleys number, 'Cruel To Be Kind' (co-written with Ian Gomm). The original Brinsleys version of that song has never been released before, until now.
All of these recordings are previously unreleased, and seven titles (*) have never been released before in any form.
The booklet features liner notes by members of the band and John Peel.
This is the second volume (following HUX023) of the band's BBC recordings and features the best of their live and studio sessions from 1971-75, as compiled by Brinsley Schwarz.
