Although it sounds elitist, "you had to be there to really appreciate it." Seeing them perform in 1968 and 1969 was a bizarre and rewarding sight. Medieval costumes, dancing maidens, and an unbelievable array of instruments: to see the Incredibles ... Full Descriptionperform was a remarkable experience. They epitomized the "new age traveller" and as such are highly influential, and sadly under-appreciated. Thirty years later, their challenging folk music has not become any easier. Hearing the epic 13-minute 'A Very Cellular Song', with its many changes and parts, is still pretty formidable. Easy to poke fun at, but they were absolutely sincere, and very good at it.
Digitally remastered edition of this 1968 album from the British Folk outfit. Credited with being the first artists to fuse Folk and Psychedelic sensibilities, the Incredible String Band benefited from having two very complementary frontmen: Robin Williamson and Mike Heron. Includes the songs 'Witches Hat' and 'A Very Cellular Song'. Warner. 2006.
